Correcting Spelling Mistakes as you Type

spelling

Almost everybody has got issues with spelling mistakes in English. If you are a native speaker, you might have noticed yourself that sometimes you don’t know how to spell correctly a word when writing your text. By using an online spell checker, all these mistakes will be corrected as you type.

You don’t need to do anything, because the program will do it for you. However, when you are done with your text, you should definitely proofread it, and see whether all the suggestions given by the program are correct, and if they correlate well within your text. Some of the most common spelling mistakes that you should be careful about:

spelling
  • Loose vs lose- lose is actually the opposite of “win”, while loose simply means “not tight”.
  • Wierd instead of “weird”- “weird” is the correct spelling, although it is many times spelled like “wierd” (it sounds better to so many people, but it is not correct!)
  • Than & then- when you want to express a relation to time, you will say “then”. When you want to use a term for comparison, you will use “Than”. Dan is taller than John. I turned around the corner, and then I saw you.

spelling

  • Alot vs. a lot. Forget about “alot” because this is not an actual English word. When you want to express that you have plenty of money, you will say “I have a lot of money”.
  • Whether and weather- two completely different words, although they are sometimes spelled interchangeably.

If you believe that you might be the victim of doing such mistakes, you really need a good online spelling and grammar checker. This way, you will not have any problems sending across to your employer clean text which is free of frustrating mistakes. The online checkers are 100% free and you can use them to check any type of text that you want.
